I love using my old car’s cassette player to listen to music. But recently, it’s been immediately spitting the tape back out, no matter how I insert it or what tape it is. How do you fix the cassette player in a car?

Thankfully, there are a few ways to fix your cassette player!
First, it’s a good idea to clean the cassette player to see if that solves your issue. If this is an original cassette player in an older car and it hasn’t been cleaned much, there’s a good chance it’s holding dust and debris inside. There are certain types of “cleaning cassettes” you can buy for this purpose.
Eventually, parts break down, so it’s also possible you need a belt or another component of the cassette player replaced. If you’re partial to the specific player, you could consider taking it to an audio technician. Otherwise, it’s typically cheaper to replace it with a new player.
