How do you fix oxidized car paint?
My old car finally broke down for good, so I purchased a used Toyota as a replacement car. It runs great, but it’s hard not to notice the oxidation on the paint job. Is there any way I can fix oxidized car paint?

Getting rid of oxidation on a
car’s paint
can be simple or quite difficult depending on the extent of the oxidation. If the oxidation is relatively minor, it can be restored with a proper clean and polish. However, if the oxidation is too severe, you may want to consider having a professional assess the paint damage and help you with the next steps.To get started, you will need:
- Two buckets
- A sponge or towel
- Car cleaning solution
- A clay bar
- Dual-action car polish
- Microfiber towels
Once you have the materials gathered, follow these steps:
Step one: Start by washing and drying your car thoroughly using the two bucket method. Be sure to keep your sponge properly rinsed so you are not rubbing excess dirt into the paint.
Step two: Follow the instructions on your clay bar to remove the worst of the surface imperfections. This will remove the top layer of oxidation. Rinse and dry your vehicle thoroughly.
Step three: Finally, apply your dual-action car polish per the instructions on your polish of choice. You should see a significant decrease in the oxidation of your vehicle’s paint.
