How do you fix a leather armrest in a car?
I have a 2008 BMW with a leather interior. I love it, but it’s definitely seen better days. I recently noticed there’s a hole in the armrest. How can I fix a leather armrest in a car?

It’s awesome you’ve gotten 14 years out of your leather interior! Thankfully, you can easily fix a leather armrest in a car with a leather and vinyl repair kit.
Cracking and tearing in a leather interior is common over time, so luckily, many companies have created products to help you fix the problem at home:
- No heat systems involve using a paste or compound to glue or fill the leather. The kits often also include an adhesive to help prevent tears from getting any larger.
- Heat systems are similar. However, they typically have you apply a hot iron to the area. Doing so sets the product and can ensure it lasts longer.
- Leather tape comes in different colors to match most leather. To fix your armrest, you’d simply cut the tape to match the hole and apply it.
Apart from the tape method, most kits require pigment mixing to match your leather interior. If you have a good idea for color or standard leather interior, you shouldn’t have too much trouble, but something more intricate may be a bit difficult.
