The 2015 BMW X5 brought two worlds together for those who could afford it: the fun-handling, powerful sportiness of a BMW performance car, with the comfort, luxury, and cargo room of a family SUV. Throw in the available third-row seat, and the mid-size SUV is darn near perfect.
If you’re looking for a luxury SUV that can fit the whole family without sacrificing the fun of a spirited drive, the 2015 X5 is a great option to consider. Its three engine choices offer a range from the 300-horsepower V6 to the turbocharged 567-horsepower V8. Whichever powertrain you choose, you’re sure to enjoy the ride because the X5 is extremely comfortable and, even though it’s a 2015 model, has a lot of standard tech and infotainment features that you’d expect on new cars today.

2015 BMW X5 interior

Before we dive too deep into the X5’s interior features, let’s get the bad news out of the way first: You can upgrade to available leather seats, but they don’t come standard. So unless you want to shell out more money for them, you’ll have leatherette seats. Super comfortable leatherette seats.
Understandably, you’d expect leather upholstery throughout for a vehicle with a starting MSRP of $53,900. But you won’t get them on your used 2015 X5 unless the original buyer opted for some available upgrades. Today, you can find a 2015 BMW X5 for as little as $18,500 for the
base trim
and as high as $25,200 for the highest-level X5 xDrive50i trim.
If you find a 2015 X5 for sale that you’d like to look at, here’s what you can expect to see on the inside:

Seating

The 2015 X5 offers standard seating for up to five passengers, but you can add an available third row to allow seating for up to seven. However, the third row is admittedly a little cramped and would be best suited for small children.
The two front seats come standard with heating and 10-way power adjustable capability. However, some models are surely equipped with the available leather seating, 20-way power adjustable settings, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.
Here’s how the seating space breaks down for the X5:

Front shoulder room

Second-row headroom

Tech

The 2015 X5 didn’t skip on infotainment and safety tech features. Here’s what you’ll find standard:
  • 10.2-inch touchscreen display
  • iDrive infotainment system
  • Navigation
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Satellite radio
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Push-button start
Features that were available to add on for the 2015 X5 were:
  • Surround-view cameras
  • Heads-up display
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Lane-departure warning
  • Active park assist
  • Night vision mode with pedestrian detection
  • Rear-seat entertainment system
  • Soft-close automatic doors
  • 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen surround sound system

Style

BMW’s masterful sense of style has a huge presence inside the 2015 X5. Start with the included panoramic moonroof, and make your way down to the chrome-look interior details, analog-look instrument display, and poplar wood inserts. It’s like an executive corner office on wheels.
It’s easy to fixate on the leatherette seat upholstery, but if it looks like leather, feels like leather, and there’s a panoramic moonroof above you, what’s to complain about? Still, some may have purchased the new 2015 X5 with one of the interior upgrades, such as the Ivory White Interior Design Package, which would have equipped the car with Atlas Gray leather seats and dashboard.
