How do you fix a dead car battery?

I’ve been having a rotten week. My car has needed a jumpstart every day, and fortunately, my roommate has been home and able to help. Obviously, this isn’t sustainable. The problem: I need to wait to get paid next week before I can buy a new battery. How can I fix a dead car battery?

Jumpstarting a car
is only one solution to fixing a car battery. There are other means of adding a little extra “juice” to your battery’s life, but they’re not as safe. Batteries are chemicals, so exposing yourself to chemicals can put you at risk.
If you feel up for the challenge, there are a couple of things you can do to
extend the life of your car battery
:
  • Add a mixture of one part Epsom salt to three parts water to each battery cell
  • Crush and dissolve about 12 tablets of Aspirin in roughly six ounces of water and add to each battery cell
  • Fully submerge the battery plates in distilled water to give the battery a few more hours
Again, working with open battery chemicals is dangerous, so wear protective gear to protect yourself.
