How do you fit a towbar to a Honda CRV?

Tow bars are big jobs involving care and expertise. If you’re sure you want to do it yourself, here are some general steps for fitting a tow bar to your car:
- Step 1: Prep your car for installation. While this will vary between vehicles, you’ll often need to remove your bumper.
- Step 2: Take off any protective covers and clean the area. From there, you can bolt down the brackets on your car.
- Step 3: Attach the main crossbar to your brackets. Instructions will depend on your towbar, but you’ll need to use a torque wrench to tighten it properly.
- Step 4: Install the housing over your tow ball system. Remember, the housing could be detachable, permanent, or retractable—so specific instructions depend on the product you choose.
- Step 5: Reattach the bumper over the towbar and screw your tow ball into place.
