How do you drive a car up a slope?
I’m going to my friend’s house next week in Colorado and he lives on a very steep slope. How do I restart my car after parking and drive up the hill?

can be tough to maneuver, especially when you don’t do it very often. It’s really important that you shift to a lower gear while driving up a steep hill.Here is some more advice for restarting your parked car on a slope if you have an automatic car:
- Keep the parking brake on while you turn on the car, straighten your wheels, and put the car in drive.
- Turn on your turn indicator and look for oncoming traffic. Your vision may be obscured by the hill, so it’s important to remain vigilant.
- Start pressing on the gas pedal as you release the parking brake. Once it’s down, press more firmly on the gas.
