How do you check the tire pressure on a Volvo XC90?

We got our first cold weather of the year and I just noticed the tire pressure light illuminate on my Volvo XC90. I’m not sure if the air in the tires is actually low. How can I check?

You’re not alone in noticing the effects of winter temperatures on your tires—cold air can underinflate your tires by up to 10 pounds per square inch (psi)! You can check the tire pressure on your tires on your
Volvo XC90
using the tire pressure display or a tire pressure gauge:
  • Check the tire pressure display on the vehicle’s infotainment screen. This is useful because it tells you at a glance if your tires are properly inflated or low. But the display doesn’t tell you the exact psi of each tire.
  • Push a tire pressure gauge into a tire’s valve to find the precise psi. You’ll get the most accurate reading if you check the tire pressure in the morning when the temperatures are lower.
Check your
Volvo XC90
owner’s manual to find the recommended psi for each tire. Newer models typically need to be inflated anywhere between 33 and 36 psi.
