How do you change the oil in a Toyota Sienna?

My Toyota Sienna has been acting a little weird lately. I think it might be time to change the oil. I know this isn’t really something I need to have done professionally. What’s the best way to change my car’s oil?

“Changing the oil in a Toyota Sienna is definitely something you can do on your own—if you have the time, patience, and equipment and are comfortable working on vehicles.
However, if you choose to handle your oil change at home, be sure to properly protect yourself and those around you and always work in a well-ventilated area.
Step 1: Drain the Used Oil: Get underneath the vehicle and locate the oil cap. Position a drain pan underneath it and loosen the drain plug. Remove the plug with your fingers.
Allow the oil to drain for about 5 to 10 minutes. Once most of the oil has drained, put the drain plug back in and tighten it up.
Step 2: Remove the Used Oil Filter: Pop the hood and locate the filter. On a Sienna, you’ll find the filter at the front of the engine.
Position your drain pan below the filter funnel to catch any oil that will come out when you loosen it. Allow this oil to drain from the filter for around 5 minutes. Once it’s mostly done dripping, unscrew the filter completely and remove it.
Step 3: Install a New Filter: You can buy a new filter at your local auto supply store. They often range in price from $7 to $15.
Once you’re ready, put a little oil on the gasket for lubrication by touching the gasket of the old filter (which should still be covered in oil) to the new one. Put the new filter in place and twist clockwise until it is nice and secure.
Step 4: Add Fresh Oil: Open the oil fill cap, set it aside, and put in a funnel. Fill the oil reservoir with five quarts of fresh oil. Don’t pour too fast, as it can overflow and spill everywhere.
Then, you are finished! After replacing the oil cap, you may want to mark down the date and mileage of this oil change so you’ll know when to repeat the process.
