How do you adjust the headlights on a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500?

I got new, all-terrain tires on my truck, and because it sits up higher now, I get a lot of angry flashes from other drivers at night. I know that there must be a way to fix this. How do you adjust the headlights on a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500?

Yep - new tires, lift kits, and even all-terrain driving can cause misalignment of your headlights, causing unsafe (or at least annoying) conditions for other drivers. Luckily this fix only takes a couple of minutes.
All you need to adjust the headlights on a 2014 Ram 1500 is a socket wrench and some tape.
To do this adjustment, you will need at least 30 feet of flat surface under your truck, and a flat, vertical surface like a garage door or wall.
  • Start with your truck parked about a foot away from the wall with your headlights on.
  • Mark the wall with tape in a cross shape where the light is the brightest on the wall.
  • Back your truck up about 25 feet.
  • Check to see how your headlights align with the tape from this distance.
  • Walk to the front of the truck, and locate the adjustment screws—there will be two on each headlight and can be accessed without opening the hood or removing the grille.
  • Turn the bolt that is on the outside of the light (closest to the tire) in a clockwise motion to lower your headlight, and turn the bolt that is on the inside (closest to your grille) in a clockwise or counterclockwise motion to adjust your headlight left to right.
  • Continue until you are at (or just below) the tape marks on the wall.
  • Once they match up, you are all set!
When you adjust your low beams, your high beams automatically move into the correct position, as well.
