Can you flat tow a MINI Cooper with an automatic transmission?
My MINI Cooper is the best car I’ve ever owned and my favorite road trip car. Recently, I purchased a motorhome to go on some excursions, but I also want to take my MINI with me. Is it possible to flat tow a MINI Cooper that has an automatic transmission?

Unfortunately, you cannot flat tow a MINI Cooper with an automatic transmission under any circumstances. The automatic MINI Cooper isn’t designed for flat towing, and doing so can severely damage the transmission and void the warranty. Instead, you’ll need to get a flatbed trailer to avoid damaging your vehicle.
That said, you can flat tow a manual transmission MINI Cooper if it has front-wheel drive. While MINI doesn’t recommend that you flat tow as it will void your warranty, owners of manual MINI Coopers outside of the warranty have had no apparent issues with flat towing.
