How do I turn on AWD in my Hyundai Tucson?

In order to get to my construction job, I need to drive up a sandy, steep incline road, and I need my tires to have enough traction to make the climb. How do I turn on the all-wheel drive (AWD) in my Hyundai Tucson?

It’s a smart idea to turn on the AWD in your car to get the most out of your vehicle’s traction.
The
Hyundai Tucson
AWD system has two modes:
  • AWD Auto- lock is deactivated
  • AWD Lock
The AWD selection button is an icon that looks like two bars with an ‘x’ in the middle. When the button is *not illuminated, your Tucson is in AWD Auto mode. In this mode, your car will operate similarly to a 2-wheel drive vehicle. You’ll want to use this mode under normal driving conditions.
To shift into AWD, press down the AWD selection button. The light will indicate that the system has been turned on. In this mode, your car will maximize traction.
Keep in mind that your vehicle will adjust modes depending on the speed you’re driving. If you’re going faster than 19 mph, the mode will shift back to AWD auto, and if your speed slows down to 19 mph, your Tucson will shift back into AWD lock mode.
