How do I check the tire pressure on a Volkswagen Jetta?

I have a Volkswagen Jetta that’s been steering a bit funky lately. I’m fairly certain it’s the tires, but I’m not sure how to check them. What do I do to check the tire pressure on a Jetta?

Tire pressure can definitely make an impact on the steering and handling of your Jetta, so taking a quick look at tire pressure is a smart move. Here’s how to check the tire pressure on a Volkswagen Jetta:
  1. Look inside the owner’s manual or the driver’s side door jamb to get the
correct tire pressure for your vehicle
    .
  2. Don’t drive for about 10 minutes to make sure that your tires are cool, as warm tires may give you an inaccurate reading.
  3. Locate the valve stem on the tire.
  4. Remove the valve stem cap.
  5. Push the
    tire gauge
on the valve stem to get a pounds per square inch (psi) reading.
  6. If the tire is underinflated, fill it with compressed air. If it’s overinflated, use the backside of the tire gauge to release air.
  7. Do the same for all four tires until you have the proper tire pressure.
