How do I reset a BMW Bluetooth passkey?
I have a used BMW and it didn’t come with an owner’s manual. I’m stuck whenever I try to pair the Bluetooth to my phone as it asks for a passkey. Can I somehow reset it so that I can make this work?

You can, so not worry! To reset a BMW Bluetooth passkey, just type in a new passkey when you pair your device. As long as the two numbers match, it should be enough to unlock Bluetooth capabilities for your vehicle.
If this doesn’t work or you still have problems with connectivity, you can try a couple of other methods before making a call to a BMW dealer:
- See if there’s a manual for your BMW model online. Sometimes, the passkey will be the same for various vehicles with the same model year.
- Try generic strings of numbers like “0000” or “0123”—the factory setting is usually simple.
- Go to the Bluetooth menu on your car’s infotainment screen and select the passkey setting. Make sure that the radio function is also turned on. See if you can enter a new passkey using the tuner knob by scrolling to one number at a time and pressing the button in the tuner knob to confirm.
