How do I put a Honda Pilot in neutral with a dead battery?

I have a Honda Pilot and it appears that the battery is dead. The only problem is that I can’t get my other car close enough to the engine compartment to jump-start the Pilot. Is there a way to put the Pilot in neutral if it has a dead battery?

Putting your Honda Pilot in neutral with a dead battery is surprisingly easy. Just follow these steps to move your ride:
  1. Get into the driver’s side of the vehicle.
  2. Open the rolling lid that covers the center console.
  3. At the front of the center console toward the radio, you should see a little hole. This is your gear shift release.
  4. Use your key or a flathead screwdriver and you should feel a spring-loaded button.
  5. Keep the button pushed in and shift the vehicle into neutral.
In these instances, you may have wished that you had some assistance. That’s why you may want to consider
towing and labor coverage
for your next car insurance policy.
