How do I play music via Bluetooth in a BMW 5-Series?
I have a BMW 5-Series, but it’s old enough that it doesn’t have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. I read that I can connect Bluetooth to play music—I just don’t know how to do it. What do I need to do to play music via Bluetooth?

Even if you don’t have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, you can still play music via Bluetooth on a BMW 5-Series by following these simple steps:
- Enable Bluetooth connection on your device.
- Select communication from the iDrive menu.
- Select manage mobile devices
- Then choose connect new device.
- The BMW 5-Series’s Bluetooth name should appear on your phone, as well as your phone on the head unit.
- Select either one to begin pairing.
