I cannot figure out how to get the fuel door open on my aunt’s car. I borrowed it for a weekend and I want to return it with a full tank. How do I open the gas tank on a 2006 BMW X5?

To open the gas tank on a 2006 BMW X5, press lightly on the outside of the fuel door and release.
In many cars, there is a fuel door release lever inside the vehicle. But your aunt’s BMW doesn’t have this switch. So instead, you’ll need to put the car in park, turn off the engine, and then go outside to the fuel door and press on it gently.
Once you’ve pushed and released the fuel door, it will pop open slightly. You can now grab the edge and open the fuel door completely. Then, all you need to do is unscrew the gas cap and you can fill up the tank.
Remember that BMW recommends 93-octane fuel for the X5. Premium fuel is more expensive, but it’s best to stick to the manufacturer’s recommendations for gas octane ratings.
Regular unleaded may be acceptable, but the performance is likely to suffer. Ultimately, you should stick with whatever fuel your aunt typically uses in her X5.
