That’s unfortunate! Broken or missing bumper clips definitely make the car look unsightly. And worse, it messes with the car’s aerodynamics, and can even cause damage to your tires depending on how it’s hanging.
There are generally two ways to address this problem: pay for an expensive bumper repair at a body shop, or buy a pack of $10 to $20 bumper clips and fix it yourself.
If you’re a DIY fan and not afraid to give this repair a try, fixing a bumper clip isn’t too difficult. Just know you can damage your bumper if you’re not careful, and end up paying for that expensive bumper repair regardless. So try this at your own risk.
To fix a bumper clip, you’ll need to use a screwdriver to loosen the bumper screws, then gently pop the bumper free and pull it out. Now just remove the broken clip, pop in the new one, put everything back together, and you’re ready to roll.
All of that sounds simple, but again, there is definitely a risk of damaging your bumper more if you aren’t careful. It can get frustrating, and you’ll need to use some pressure to get the bumper to pop free. If you aren’t comfortable doing all of this, take it to a body shop, a mechanic, or your dealership.
Bumper clips do break occasionally, so if you’re going the DIY home repair route, it’s a good idea to have some extras on hand for future use. Also, note this fix can be a little more challenging on some newer cars, and some cars might not accept generic bumper clips.
We hope this helps you fix your bumper clip! And hey, when you’re done fixing your bumper, consider downloading the
