How to change the coolant on a Honda Shadow 600, do the following.
  • Park the bike using the angled kickstand
  • Open the radiator cap
  • Place a drip pan below the drain bolt and then remove the drain bolt
  • Let the coolant drain
  • Flush with water
  • Replace the drain bolt
  • Remove the coolant from the overflow bottle
  • Refill the coolant reservoir with silicate- and phosphate-free coolant (about two quarts)
  • Start the engine, rev a few times, then turn off
  • Top off the radiator and replace radiator cap
  • Refill the overflow bottle between the min and max lines and replace the cap
  • Dispose of old coolant and containers properly—coolant is toxic and very dangerous to animals and kids
You’re done! You’ve changed the coolant on your Honda Shadow 600, and you should be good for another two years (or 24,000 miles).
