Congrats on the sale! To cancel a Nationwide home insurance policy, call 877-669-6877 or contact your agent.
Here’s the information you should provide when requesting a policy cancellation:
  • Your policy number
  • Your name
  • Your date of birth
  • Your address
  • Date of cancellation
If you do not specify a future date, most cancellations go into effect as of midnight on the day of your request. Make sure you do not have a gap in coverage. It’s much better to pay for another month of coverage for safety’s sake, in case anything happens to the property before it legally changes hands.
You should receive a confirmation email from Nationwide that your policy is canceled. If you are entitled to a refund for the prorated portion of your policy, it should arrive in a week’s time. Note that Nationwide does not charge cancellation fees.
