How do I add my son to my car insurance policy?
My son just turned 16 and aced his driving test. He's going to be driving now, and I want to get him on my insurance policy. How do I add my son to my car insurance policy?

Congratulations to your son! To add him to your car insurance policy, you can either call your insurance provider or update your policy online.
You will need to provide some basic information about your son, such as his:
- Name
- Age
- Drivers license number
- Social security number
If your son receives good grades, he may qualify for a good student discount. Different providers have different eligibility requirements for this, but it’s often available for full-time students under the age of 25 who meet one of the following requirements:
- Earn a B average
- Earn at least a 3.0 GPA
- Make the Dean’s List or Honor Roll
Your car insurance will most likely go up when you add a teen driver to your policy. If you want to find less expensive rates, try comparison shopping with the Jerry app. Jerry can provide you with free quotes from the nation’s top insurance providers, help you sign up for a better policy, and even help you cancel your old policy if you decide to make the switch.
