Does the Mazda CX-5 have a spare tire?
My wife and I are shopping for a new family-friendly vehicle. We like the Mazda CX-5 but are wondering if it has a spare tire for emergencies.

The Mazda CX-5 is equipped with a temporary spare. Sometimes called “donuts,” temporary spares are designed to be smaller and lighter than regular tires, so that they take up less space and don’t weigh down your vehicle.
Temporary spares should only be used in emergencies and for very short periods of time. Never use them for long drives or extended periods of time.
When using a temporary spare, always follow these safety tips:
- Never drive with a temporary spare on the front wheels of your Mazda. If a front tire goes flat, move one of the rear regular tires to the front, and place the temporary spare on the back of the vehicle.
- Do not exceed 50 mph.
- The temporary spare is smaller than your regular tire, so ground clearance is reduced. Avoid driving over obstacles such as potholes and speed bumps.
- Only drive with one temporary spare at a time.
- Do not use your temporary spare on any other vehicle—it has been designed specifically for your CX-5.
Once you install the temporary spare, you’ll want to head to your nearest tire shop to have your regular tire repaired or replaced.
