Does Kia’s warranty extend to a second owner?
I’m thinking of purchasing a used Kia from a friend. It’s only about two years old, so I think it’s still under warranty. Will that extend to me as the second owner?

Yes—Kia’s factory and extended warranties absolutely extend to second owners upon resale.
If the Kia in question is still covered under the factory warranty, whatever is remaining of the following coverages will transfer:
- 5-year/60,000-mile limited basic warranty
- 5-year/100,000-mile limited anti-perforation warranty
- 5-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance plan
As for the 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty—it will be transferred to a 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty regardless of the remaining balance.
If the original owner purchased an extended warranty—either Platinum, Gold, or Powertrain—which lasts up to 150,000 miles, then whatever is remaining is fully transferable to a second owner.
