Does Kia make a 4-wheel drive SUV?
I’m looking into a powerful SUV I can take offroading. I’d love to buy a Kia, but I’m not sure what they offer drivetrain-wise. Does Kia make a 4WD SUV?

Technically, no—Kia does not make a 4-wheel drive (4WD) SUV. They do, however, offer plenty of SUVs with all-wheel drive (AWD).
Aren’t they the same, you might say? While they both send power to all four of your SUV’s wheels, there are distinct differences. Here are some key differences:
- 4WD vehicles must be manually engaged, whereas AWD is usually automatically running
- 4WD is better than AWD for off-road situations that include sand and mud
- AWD usually handles better in normal road conditions
- 4WD is more adaptable to varying towing conditions and makes it easier to switch modes
- You can switch to 2WD in ideal conditions when driving a 4WD, which boosts fuel economy
