Good question! Car insurance doesn’t cover routine repairs. However, if the electrical problems are a result of a covered peril, your comprehensive coverage may cover it.
Unfortunately, insurance doesn’t cover routine repair bills. That’s why getting your oil changed costs every time you get it done. So if the wiring is corroded by time, it won’t be covered by your insurance.
However, if the electrical problem is caused by a covered peril, the repairs might be covered. A covered peril is some event that your insurance company agrees to pay the damages for.
So, if you have
collision insurance
, that event is a collision with an object or vehicle. If you have
comprehensive insurance
, that can include things like natural disasters, broken glass, and fires.
This is why it’s so important to get a clear reason from your mechanic as to why this repair needs to be done. What caused the damage exactly? If the damage was caused by a covered peril, it’ll be covered. Otherwise, you’re stuck footin’ the bill.
When it comes to your car, you need the right coverage for the right price.
