Do you need your registration for a driving test?
I’m trying to make a checklist of all the documents I need for my driving test, but I can’t find an accurate list. Do I need to bring my car’s registration to take a driving test?

Along with a number of other documents, you need your
registration
for a driving test. The reason you need the registration is to confirm that you own the car or your parents own the vehicle. Otherwise, the car insurance policy wouldn’t extend to you. Always remember that car insurance
follows the car, not the driver.If you want to make a complete checklist, include these other documents on top of your vehicle registration:
- Driver’s license application, which needs to be signed by your parents if you’re under 18
- Proof of residency (utility bills or your parents’ utility bills)
- Proof of your identity (passport, Social Security card, and/or birth certificate)
- Certificate of completion for the written exam
- Certificate of completion of driver’s ed or equivalent coursework
- Certificate of completion of behind-the-wheel lessons
- Driving log
- Proof of school enrollment (only required in some states)
