Can you tell me how to get rid of your car without a title?

I have an old Toyota Yaris that barely runs. My buddy is interested in buying it for a rebuild, but I lost the paperwork. How do I get rid of a car without a title?

Good question! Getting rid of your car
without a title
is entirely possible, though you will have to apply for a duplicate title in order to fully transfer the vehicle out of your name.
You can fill out an Application for Duplicate Title with the DMV, which includes a section for transferring ownership of the vehicle. This will need to be filled out by both you and your friend. While you are at the DMV, you should also make sure to pay any past-due
registration fees
so your friend isn’t caught with them later on.
To further protect yourself during this process, make sure to fill out a Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability form. This will remove liability from you for any tickets and violations that could occur while the ownership transfer is processed.
Don’t forget to update your car insurance after selling the car. If you have another car you’re insuring, policy changes is a good time to shop around and make sure you’re getting the best rates. Try using the number one rated car insurance app in the Apple store,
