Can you return a car in Indiana?

I just bought a car from a dealership in Indiana last week, and it’s starting to have some issues I’m not comfortable with. Is there a way to return a car in Indiana?

It depends. You cannot return a car in
Indiana
if you’ve already signed the paperwork. The Consumer Bill of Rights states that once you’ve agreed to buy a car in Indiana, it’s yours.
However, if the dealer doesn’t deliver a title for the car within 21 days, you can get a full refund.
You also have 30 days to return a new car to the dealer if it has mechanical issues (i.e., is a lemon).
Even if the car has mechanical problems, the
Indiana Lemon Law
does not apply to used vehicles. That’s why it’s crucial to do your due diligence before committing to buying a used car.
Be sure to:
  • Check the
    CARFAX report
  • Thoroughly inspect the vehicle—inside and out
  • Take a test drive
  • Request to see the maintenance records
  • Research the
    Kelley Blue Book value
    of the vehicle
Checking all these boxes can do a lot to prevent buyer’s regret. But a decision you won’t regret is finding a cheaper
