Can you get a DUI while driving a golf cart?

My buddies and I were out playing golf the other day, and one of them was giving me grief for drinking because I was driving the golf cart. He said you have to have a designated driver for the golf cart, just like you do with a car. Is that true?

I hate to break it to you, my friend, but your buddy’s right:
DUI
laws generally apply to individuals operating a motor vehicle, not a car. Since it is a motor vehicle, you can get a DUI while driving a golf cart.
That said, DUI laws can vary depending on where you are driving under the influence. Some states prohibit it everywhere, while others only specify public roads or publicly accessible places—like public golf courses.
Drinking while operating any motor vehicle is always a bad idea, and the penalties from a DUI can haunt you and your
driving record
for years. Not to mention, they can make finding affordable
car insurance
way more difficult. But even if you’ve been convicted of a DUI,
