Can you drive with fog lights?

I love how much better I can see with my fog lights on. But, I heard a rumor that you’re not actually supposed to have them on all the time. Can you drive with fog lights?

It is illegal to drive with only your fog lights illuminated. You can drive with fog lights in addition to your front headlights when visibility is less than 300 feet.
Driving with just your fog lights on can be blinding and distracting to oncoming drivers, and could cause an accident.
Because fog lights sit lower on your vehicle than your regular
headlights
, so they can create a glare for oncoming drivers. And, when it comes to driving safely, seeing out your front window is pretty high on the list. So, when you see other drivers coming toward you, turn off your fog lights until they’re out behind you.
