Can I upgrade my Tesla X 75D battery?

I bought my Tesla Model X back in 2016, and it came with a 75D battery. I’d love to unlock more range with a bigger battery, so can I upgrade it?

You’re not alone in looking for a higher-capacity battery! The good news is you might be able to upgrade a Tesla X 75D battery.
Tesla
now offers 90- and 100-kWh batteries. They run between $13,000 to $30,000, depending on where you get them installed.
The bad news is Tesla doesn’t like to install bigger batteries in older models. You might have the option of unlocking more of your 75D battery’s capacity through a software update though, so ask your local Tesla dealership if that’s available.
If your battery doesn’t seem to be holding a charge effectively, it’s probably still under Tesla’s warranty. Tesla will replace a defective battery if it’s less than eight years old or has under 150,000 miles on it (whichever comes first).
But if your vehicle is no longer under warranty, given the cost to replace the battery, it might make more sense to put the money toward a newer model of the
Tesla X
, which automatically comes with a 100-kWh lithium-ion battery.
