Audi A5 battery location? I can’t find it!

I bought a 2018 Audi A5 a few months back. It’s been a great car so far and a lot of fun to drive. But I suspect the battery might be dying, and I want to replace it. So I went under the hood … and there isn’t a battery? What the heck? I see terminals for jumpstarting, but where exactly is the Audi A5’s battery location? Do I need to remove engine parts or something?

We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying your Audi A5! Audi and some other European car companies put the batteries in what we in America consider to be a very weird location. Your Audi A5’s battery can be found in—wait for it…—the trunk of the car.
To get to the battery, you’ll need to remove the trunk’s carpeted floor lining, then remove the spare tire. You’ll find the battery there. But if you’re jumpstarting your Audi A5, or offering someone else a jump, do it from the terminals under the hood in the front of the car, up near the windshield.
The two terminals are spaced out a bit—the positive terminal is near the center-bottom of the windshield, while the negative terminal is on the driver’s side, close to the strut bar (the bar that goes over the engine).
