Are U-turns legal in Texas?

I took a two-month sabbatical, so I believe I’m going to travel all around Texas. My driving record isn’t exactly sparkling, so I can’t risk another ticket. To avoid being pulled over, I just want to know about U-turns. Can I legally make a U-turn in Texas?

In two months, you can probably explore a vast majority of
Texas
from
Houston
to
El Paso
. But if you overshoot your destination, don’t stress.
U-turns are legal in Texas. Before you execute a U-turn, make sure to follow these basic safety tips:
  • If you’re in a major city, look out for pedestrians and cyclists
  • Always yield to oncoming traffic
  • Only make a U-turn if you’re in the left-most lane
  • Don’t make a U-turn if it’s prohibited by a street sign
Pro tip: Before you head out on your trip, you should perform a
pre-trip inspection
and familiarize yourself with the
Texas traffic laws
. Doing so will prepare you to hit the roads in the Lone Star state and help you avoid any issues with the law.
