Are there laws for traveling with pets in cars?
I travel with my dog often and he accompanies me on most errands that I run. I usually restrain him with a leash, but I don’t know if any law exists governing how to restrain a dog. Are there any laws for traveling with pets or dogs in cars?

- Maine
- Minnesota
- New Hampshire
- Rhode Island
- Connecticut
- Massachusetts
If you don’t live in one of these states, you shouldn’t have to worry. An additional 16 states have no laws governing travel with pets in cars, while 28 states have ambiguous laws.
