Are cars with trunks better for travelers?
I love to take road trips throughout the year, but I need a new car. I was comparing a few models, but I’m worried about cargo space. Are trunks better for travelers or should I opt for a larger cargo area?

The debate between trunks or large cargo areas remains heated, as both have advantages and disadvantages.
If you want to purchase a sedan or coupe, a trunk has a few advantages, including:
- Keeping valuables out of sight to limit crimes.
- Boxy items are held in place so they don’t bounce around or move like they would in a cargo area.
- Separation from the cabin ensures that you don’t hear any weird or constant noises.
However, a cargo area such as those found in a hatchback, van, or SUV may be the better option for your needs if you pack heavily or have lots of cargo when you travel. A cargo area has far more space than a trunk in most cases.
In addition, you always need to check the actual cargo area or trunk to see if it accommodates your needs. Sometimes the configuration can make a large cargo area feel smaller (such as a low roof), so measure your usual luggage before you test drive any of these vehicles.
