Not all Ford Flex models are AWD. Instead, front-wheel drive comes as the standard option. You can add AWD to the SEL and Limited trim levels, although it’s not available on the entry-level SE trim. Adding all-wheel drive originally cost an additional $1,950, but now that just means these models hold a little extra value over their FWD counterparts.
You’ll get better handling, in a Ford Flex with AWD but you’ll sacrifice a little fuel economy. It isn’t by much, but the Flex AWD gets 22 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in the city while the front-wheel-drive option gets 23 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in the city.
