2020 Ford Explorer battery location: Where is it?

I was trying to help jumpstart my friend last night using my 2020 Ford Explorer. There was just one problem: we couldn’t find the battery! I feel like I’m losing my mind. I’ve never *not* been able to find a battery. Can you tell me about the 2020 Ford Explorer’s battery location?

We hope your friend was able to get the jump they needed! And yes, the 2020 Ford Explorer’s battery location isn’t as obvious as it is in most cars—Ford’s designers decided to hide it away for some reason. But it’s there, we promise!
Pop your hood again, and look in the upper-left corner of the engine compartment (up near the windshield by the front passenger seat). You’ll see the battery logo over a little panel, which you can easily remove by hand. The terminals for the battery are accessible from here.
Replacing the battery in this generation of Explorer is a bit of a pain compared to most cars because you need to remove a rather large engine bay trim piece and some bolts holding the battery itself in place. We’re not sure why Ford would add all these extra steps, but it’s not especially difficult so much as mildly frustrating.
There may not be an app that can help you find hidden engine bay components, but there’s definitely an app that can help you reduce your
Ford Explorer’s insurance costs
. And that app is called
