The base Senna model comes fitted with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 798 hpand 590 lb-ft of power. The GTR trim delivers an additional 25 horsepower with similar torque. Both models come fitted with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels.
As said earlier, the vehicle is built for speed and can sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds. It also has a Race mode, which lowers its suspension by about 1.5 inches at the front and 1.2 inches at the rear. The mode also switches the vehicle's dampers to the most performance-oriented setting.
In the same measure, the McLaren Senna has good brakes that can stop it from 70 mph to zero in less than 140 feet. On the other hand, it is very loud with tire noise, wind rush, and engine roar, creating an eardrum popping noise that most car enthusiasts love. Its fuel efficiency stands at about 14/18 mpg city/highway, which is impressive for a hypercar.
How is McLaren Senna designed?
There are only two seats in the cabin. The carmaker gives car owners a choice of three padding thicknesses for its bucket seats. Behind the driver and passenger is a high shelf where riders can store their racing helmets and suits. However, that is the only storage space on the vehicle, as it does not come with a trunk.
The model comes with a floating screen to add a modern flair to the cabin. Car owners also get an optional seven-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system and navigation.
Senna also offers Track Telemetry as an option. This feature allows the driver to map out a session and analyze each lap with ease. The car's instrument cluster is also raised for easy visibility when driving at high speeds.
A limited-version track monster
If you wish to purchase one, you should be on the lookout for auctions selling the hypercar. At the start of 2021, number 95 went to auction. It had a naked carbon-fiber exterior and interior along with Burton blue stitching. This was the second Senna to be sold in two years.
The McLaren Senna is named after Ayrton Senna da Silva, a Brazilian race driver who won the Formula One World Driver's Championship in 1988, 1990, and 1991. He won 41 Grands Prix and 65 pole positions. His exploits make him worthy of a hypercar.
