background
Redesigns of
pickup trucks
and cars usually happen every few years. In 2020, Nissan decided that after 17 years the Frontier needed updating.
The pandemic may have stopped the production of the improved Frontier for a little while, but it will be available soon. We agree with Consumer Reports that the 2022 Nissan Frontier is worth waiting for.
Consumer Reports is selective when it comes to pickup trucks, so what’s so special about the 2022 Nissan Frontier?

rented the 2022 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X and 2022 Nissan Frontier SV Crew Cab. At first glance, the structure and design haven't changed that much. However, there have been improvements in all areas of the vehicle.
The power train and engine were switched out for better, more efficient versions. The frame got an upgrade to provide more stability and durability. Inside the cabin, the infotainment center is new along with the dual air conditioning.
What’s not new are the pushbuttons and placement of the driver's setup. Everything is in the same place as the older versions, and the only touch buttons are on the screen itself.
While techies might not be too happy about that, the 2022 Nissan Frontier boasts standard advanced safety features, according to the Nissan
website
.
Forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection come standard with each Frontier, a step above other midsize trucks.

Redesigned after 17 years

MORE: Consumer Reports Failed To Recommend Full-Size Trucks From Ford, Chevy, and Ram
The redesign improves the ride, increases safety, and adds in desired technological advances. The Frontier still rides a little bumpy with an empty truck bed, but with its part-time four-wheel drive, it’s fully capable of off-roading.
Not everything was updated, so the truck isn't without its faults. The steering can be a bit tough at low speeds, and the estimated 19 mpg is only slightly improved over the previous version. The back seat is also midsize and uncomfortable, a fact that hasn't changed since the original.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier worth the wait?

With the minimal changes, the Frontier is a desirable utility vehicle. The 2022 Nissan Frontier doesn’t have all the technological bells and whistles that some might want, but as a work truck, it gets the job done.
The update improves the truck’s appearance and drivability while remaining true to its original design and function. The Frontier isn't like other companies leaping into the future with
technologically enhanced, electric, pickup trucks
.
Instead, the truck is putting more into power and safety to increase its usability. If smooth rides, excessive entertainment options, and more legroom are what you desire, the Frontier is not for you.
The Frontier's upgrades were well worth the 17-year wait. Nissan took the still functional skeleton of the truck, made a few changes, and added great safety features to improve the older model into a desirable midsize truck.
Nissan upgraded the interior features to include push-button start, dual glove compartments, and ample storage space. Heated seats are also available to help relax and warm up on the way home after a hard day of work.
The 2022 Nissan Frontier upgrades bring the midsize truck from the past into the digital future, giving it a long new life. Protect your investment with great, affordable insurance coverage. Let
