The most fuel-efficient smaller Nissan crossovers/SUVs

The Nissan Ariya (starting MSRP $47,150) again rears its electrified head as Nissan’s most fuel-efficient crossover, getting 103 MPGe combined. The Ariya comes with the option of either the standard 63 kWH battery or the larger 87 kWh battery, which has a maximum range of 300 miles.

It’s actually a tie for the Nissan crossover with the next-best fuel-efficiency: the Nissan Kicks (starting MSRP $20,290) and the Nissan Rogue (starting MSRP $27,360), both of which get 33 mpg combined. The Kicks is an affordable, tech-loaded compact SUV that is ideally suited to city driving, with its four-cylinder with 122 horsepower and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Rogue, with its more imposing look, also gets a combined 33 mpg, courtesy of its 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower and CVT.

Next up is the

Nissan Rogue Sport

(starting MSRP $25,000), which gets 28 mpg combined. This sharply styled budget-Rogue sports a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 141 horsepower and a CVT. It offers a smooth and composed ride—but its power isn’t anything to write home about. It’s not even comparable to the more expensive Rogue, and that one doesn’t sport much power, either.

Bringing up the rear in Nissan’s crossover fuel efficiency standings is the

Nissan Murano

(starting price $35,360), which still gets a respectable 23 mpg combined. The Murano strikes a bit of a different pose than the other Nissan crossovers, with a sleek, wide, low, and sporty look complemented by a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 260 horsepower, a plethora of driver-assist technology, and a stylish interior.

is the most fuel-efficient rig in this bracket, getting 23 mpg combined while running on a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 284 horsepower. The Pathfinder might look more rugged than it actually is, but it’s still a great vehicle for ferrying the kids to and fro. It also features 80 cubic feet of storage space behind the front seats, boasts a robust 6,000 pounds towing capacity, and offers a remarkably quiet cabin.

Bringing up the rear is the even-bigger

Nissan Armada

, which gets just 16 mpg combined with its 5.6-liter V8 and 400 horsepower. Granted, you do get a very comfortable and quiet ride, a strong engine, and lots of standard features—but you’ll be filling up plenty, especially on long trips.
