Buick’s Front and Rear Park Assist is a standard feature on most recent models, and it can alert you when you get too close to something—but Automatic Parking Assist does most of the heavy lifting for you. When you activate your dashboard or infotainment screen, it can maneuver your Buick into even the tightest spots.
Buick is a classic brand known for bridging the divide between mainstream cars and luxury manufacturers, providing drivers with next-level comfort at a lower price. Comfort isn’t the only thing Buick does well—the brand is also constantly adding new technology features, including standard Park Assist and Automatic Parking Assist.
Wondering how to take advantage of these features in your Buick? We have all the answers right here.

How to activate Buick Automatic Park Assist

Buick’s park assist options are advanced driver-assistance features that can make parking much easier. If your Buick vehicle is equipped with Automatic Parking Assist, the high-tech system uses sensors to detect a parking spot. It then automatically steers your Buick into the spot while you sit hands-free—just be sure you’re ready to take over if needed!
Enabling Automatic Parking Assist in your Buick will depend on what vehicle you have. You’ll either press the Automatic Parking Assist button on your dashboard (it looks like a P with curved lines facing two squares) or you’ll activate the feature through your infotainment system. From there, you’ll follow these steps:
  • For a parking space to the right of your car, push the Automatic Parking Assist button and your car will look for an adequate parking space. For a space to the left, turn on your left turn signal and select the left side on your infotainment screen.
  • When the system finds a parking spot large enough, you’ll hear a beep and see instructions displayed (either on the instruction panel or infotainment screen) directing you when to stop and shift. You may also feel your steering wheel vibrate, indicating when you can take your hands off the wheel.
  • While your Buick moves at idle speed and steers into the parking spot, you’ll keep watch of the instructions to know when to brake, shift, or take other actions. You’ll see a progress arrow as the system parks your car.
  • You’ll hear a beep and see a “parking complete” message when it’s done. This is when you’ll shift your car into park.
If you want to stop the process at any point, you can either press the Automatic Parking Assist button or resume control of the steering wheel.
Automatic parking is handy, but you’ll want to remember a few key things when you use it:
  • Automatic Parking Assist is not fully autonomous. That means it doesn’t detect changes in the parking space, like people or cars entering the spot, nor does it detect traffic next to your vehicle. That’s why you should always evaluate the safety of parking space and be ready to shift gears, brake, or steer when necessary
  • The Automatic Parking Assist system functions using 12 sensors located on your front and rear bumpers, so for the system to work, you’ll need to keep these sensors clean or it won’t work properly.
At the end of the day, Automatic Parking Assist is a tool that still needs human interaction to ensure the utmost safety. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the ins and outs of this feature through your owner’s manual.

Do all Buicks have Automatic Parking Assist?

Buicks have two types of parking assist features. Front/Rear Park Assist, which comes either standard or available on most modern Buick models, employs parking sensors that alert you (via beeps and vibrations) when you get too close to other vehicles or objects when parking.
Automatic Parking Assist takes parking technology up a notch—but it’s only available on two models so far. This feature essentially parks for you by finding a parking space and maneuvering your car into that parking space.

Which Buicks have Automatic Parking Assist?

Most new Buick models come with either standard or available front and rear park assist, but currently, only the
Buick Encore GX
(2021 models and newer) and the 2023
Buick Envision
can be equipped with Automatic Parking Assist. Some 2022 Buick models may not even have the standard Park Assist due to the global microchip shortage.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
