Can you remove the back row of seats from a Hyundai Veloster?

If you’re struggling to fit cargo in the back of your Hyundai Veloster, don’t worry! You can remove the Hyundai Veloster’s back seats by locating and taking out a few bolts. Of course, you should always be careful when you take out the back row.
Consider these safety tips when you remove the rear seats from your Veloster:
  • Lift with your legs. The rear seats can be heavy and difficult to maneuver out of your car. To ensure you get the job done with the least amount of risk, make sure you’re lifting the bench with good form. Try not to arch your back and make sure you’re in a sturdy position before you start yanking it out.
  • Cover the brackets. Once you remove the back seats, you’ll see some metal brackets where the bench used to be. To avoid any scrapes, bruises, or damage to people and property, cover them with a blanket, towel, or tarp.
  • Keep the bolts. When you’re ready to put the bolts back in place, you’ll need to use the same bolts. Using smaller ones could lead to a shaky seat and some dangerous situations. If possible, it’s best that you put the bolts in a safe place so you can use them to reinstall your seats in the future.
Remember, if you don’t need too much extra space, you can always fold down the seats. Before you go taking out the rear bench, lay the back seats flat and see if you have enough room. Checking ahead of time could save you a whole lot of trouble in the long run.

How to remove the second-row seats from a Hyundai Veloster

Before you start removing your car seats, you’ll need the following tools:
  • Torx bit screwdriver
  • Small bag for the bolts
Follow one of these methods to pull the back row of seats out of your Hyundai Veloster:

The bolt method

  1. Enter the car from the trunk and locate the two bolts at the bottom of your seats.
  2. Unbolt the screws using your Torx bit screwdriver.
  3. Enter the car from a side door and locate the two front bolts at the bottom of your seat.
  4. Unbolt the screws using your Torx bit screwdrivers.
  5. Slide the seat gently out of the fasteners.
  6. Pull the bench carefully out of your trunk.
Remember to keep track of the bolts so you can safely and easily reinstall the back bench whenever you’re ready.

The clip system

While unbolting the seats should work in most models, your car may be equipped with a clip system that lets you release the seats from the brackets without unbolting them. Follow these steps to remove the back row of seats using the clip system:
  1. Lift your seats so that you can see the bottom.
  2. Locate the plastic clips underneath the seats.
  3. Press down on the plastic piece while simultaneously pulling out the metal clip.
  4. Listen for a click that indicates the seat is no longer in the brackets.
  5. Remove the seats carefully through the trunk of your car.
And just like that, you’ve taken the back row of seats out of your Veloster!

How do you put the back seats down in a Hyundai Veloster?

If you want a little extra space in the back but don’t want to remove the seats, that’s possible too! Drivers can fold down the rear bench in the Hyundai Veloster by following one of three methods. To figure out which method works for you, you’ll need to go into your car and figure out which mechanism you’re equipped with.
For models with straps:
  1. Enter the car from the trunk.
  2. Locate the colored straps between the seats.
  3. Pull the strap behind the seat you’d like to lower.
  4. Push the seat down while pulling the strap.
For models with buttons:
  1. Enter the car from the trunk.
  2. Locate the buttons on the shoulders of each seat.
  3. Press the button belonging to the seat you’d like to fold.
  4. Push the seat forward to lay it flat.
For models with levers:
  1. Enter the car through a side door.
  2. Locate the levers between the seats.
  3. Pull the lever.
  4. Lower the seat while simultaneously pulling the lever.
Each model is only fitted with one seat-folding mechanism, so if you have levers in the seats or buttons on the shoulders, you won’t find straps in the back.
Folding the seats can make a lot of extra space, but if you’re still struggling to fit everything in your car, consider removing the seats. It’s a bigger process than simply folding down the rear bench, but you’ll gain an enormous amount of space.
