The fuel tank on a 2014 Toyota Camry holds 17 gallons (or 64.3 liters) of gasoline, no matter which trim level you happen to have.
It’s important to know how much gas your vehicle can hold, whether you’re budgeting for fuel costs or planning your stops on a road trip. You can find that information in your car owner’s manual, but if you don’t have your owner’s manual for whatever reason, there are other ways to figure out how much your gas tank holds.

Start earning nowHow big is the gas tank on a 2014 Toyota Camry?
The Toyota Camry is available in five trim levels—L, SE, SE Sport, LE, and XLE. There are two engine options available for the 2014 Camry—a 2.5-liter 178 horsepower four-cylinder engine, and a 3.5-liter 268 horsepower V-6.
The 2014 Camry’s 17-gallon gas tank is larger than newer Camrys, whose tanks hold between 13 and 16 gallons depending on the trim. That means the 2014 Camry has a longer range per fill than current gas-only Camrys. Newer Camry hybrids, however, do have better range than the 2014 Camry, even with the larger tank.
How to check your 2014 Toyota Camry’s gas tank size
If you need to know how large your particular Camry’s gas tank is, there are a few ways that you can go about finding out.
Measure the gas tank
One way to figure out your car’s gas tank capacity is by doing it the way the Founding Fathers did it: by measuring it yourself.
All you need to do this is a measuring tape, a calculator, and some privacy because if you’re like us, you’ll probably mess up the answer once or twice.
Here’s what to do: Measure the width, length, and height of your gas tank in inches. Multiply those three numbers together to get the cubic volume of your gas tank. Then divide that number by 231—the volume of a cubic gallon—and you have yourself the capacity of your fuel tank in gallons.
For example, if your gas tank is 10 inches wide, 16 inches tall, and 32 inches long, your tank’s cubic volume would be 10x16x32 = 5,120 cubic inches. Divide that by 231 (the number of cubic inches in a gallon) to reveal that your gas tank has a capacity of 22.165 gallons.
Check your owner’s manual
If you’re not the hands-on type, you can find the information you need in your 2014 Toyota Camry owner’s manual. This info is found in Section 1—“Before driving”.
Drive till empty, then fill it up
If you like living on the edge, you can figure out your Camry’s fuel capacity by driving until your fuel indicator reads “empty”, then filling up your gas tank. Take note of how many gallons it takes to top off your Camry, and that’ll give you a rough idea as to how much your tank holds.
If you attempt this, do not drive until your Camry runs out of gas entirely. Running out of gas will cause your engine to stall, compromising your ability to steer and brake. This can be treacherous, especially if you happen to be driving at high speeds or on challenging terrain.
How to save on fuel costs in a 2014 Toyota Camry
While the fuel tank capacity is the same across the board for all 2014 Toyota Camry models, their fuel economy varies from trim to trim. The four-cylinder LE hybrid model is the most efficient, with a 43 city and 39 highway mile-per-gallon rating. The six-cylinder SE is the least efficient with a 21/31 city/highway rating. Here’s a peek at the fuel efficiency ratings for the various trims and engines:
L: 2.5L 4-cylinder engine: 25 city/35 highway
SE: 2.5L 4-cylinder engine: 25 city/35 highway
SE Sport: 2.5L 4-cylinder engine: 25 city/35 highway
SE: 3.5L V6: 21 city/31 highway
SE: Hybrid: 40 city/38 highway
LE: 2.5L 4-cylinder engine: 25 city/35 highway
LE: Hybrid: 43 city/39 highway
XLE: 2.5L 4-cylinder engine: 25 city/35 highway
XLE: 3.5L V6: 21 city/31 highway
XLE: Hybrid: 40 city/38 highway
With gas prices hitting an all-time high, fuel efficiency has never been more important. Here are some ways you improve your fuel economy and save money on gas:
Keep your engine in good working order. Regular tune-ups and oil changes help your engine operate more efficiently, burning less fuel.
Ease up on the gas. The higher your RPMs, the more fuel you burn. Accelerating at a slower rate will help you to conserve fuel.
Don’t idle. Getting into a cold car in the wintertime is no fun, but you can save a lot of gas by just letting it warm up as you drive instead of idling in the driveway.
How to optimize your Camry’s insurance coverage
While your gas tank size won’t affect your Toyota insurance costs
, your engine size will. One way you can save money on car insurance is by shopping around for the best available rate. Many drivers renew their insurance without checking to see if they can get a better price for the same coverage elsewhere. Don’t be one of those drivers. Get Jerry
