The recommended 2022 Mazda CX-9 tire pressure is 36 psi. All trim levels—Sport, Touring, Touring Plus, Carbon Edition, Grand Touring, and Signature—have the same tire pressure at 36 psi.

How to check Mazda CX-9 tire pressure

Mazda suggests using a digital

tire pressure gauge

to read your tire pressure. This is not required—a regular tire gauge will do as well. If you don’t have a gauge handy, you can use the reading on a portable tire inflator or use the gauge that comes with the fill-up stations at gas stations.

Your vehicle’s pressure information can usually be found on the B-pillar of the driver-side door frame, or at the bottom of it. Your Mazda’s user manual should also have this information. When you check your air pressure, make sure the tires are cold.

To check, just remove a cap from the valve on one tire and firmly press a tire gauge onto it. Add air to achieve recommended pressure. If you overfill, you can release air by pushing on the metal stem in the center of the valve. Remember to check the spare—this may require a higher inflation pressure.

How to reset the Mazda CX-9 tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light

Sometimes, your warning light may not turn off even after you’ve reinflated your tire pressure. This could be an issue with your TPMS or tire pressure sensors, but the more likely explanation is that your TPMS hasn’t gotten the updated tire pressure information yet

You should start by driving at or above 50 mph for 10 minutes. This can cause your sensor to reset and the light to turn off the next time you turn on the car. If this doesn’t work, try these steps to

reset your TPMS

Switch on the ignition but don’t start the car (turn the key to the on position)

Hold the TPMS reset button until the tire pressure light blinks three times, then release it. This button should be under the steering wheel—check your manual to be sure.

Start the car and then wait 20 minutes for the sensor to refresh.

This should fix any warning light issues. If it doesn’t, you should take your CX-9 to a mechanic or a Mazda dealer to address the problem—which may be with the TPMS itself or the tire sensors.
