Does the Nissan Versa have Apple CarPlay?
The Nissan Versa has standard Apple CarPlay on the SV
and SR
trims—it is optional on the base S trim, and can be installed for an extra fee. The SV trim comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen and the SR trim is fitted with an 8-inch touchscreen, and both are outfitted with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. While the S trim does not come standard with this ability, you can still plug your smartphone cable into the Versa’s AUX port in order to play music and use your phone—but the integration won’t be seamless the way it is with Carplay.
The Versa S does come with an interface that is compatible with Apple CarPlay, but again, you’ll need to download the NissanConnect app, register an account, and buy a subscription plan before installing it. The base Versa comes with Bluetooth capability, a 12-volt outlet, a four-speaker audio system, and 3 USB ports.
How to add Apple CarPlay to Nissan Versa S
If you opt for the Nissan Versa S and then decide to add Apple CarPlay later on, you’ll have to first add NissanConnect Services, the Japanese carmaker’s infotainment system. NissanConnect is a subscription based service, but drivers that purchase vehicles with it pre-installed get a free three-year trial subscription. If you add NissanConnect to a vehicle as an option, you’ll have to pay for it—there are three tiers of service available: Standard, Premium, and Premium Plus, ranging in price from $11.99 to $24.99 per month. Download the NissanConnect app, then register an account before connecting the NissanConnect account to your Versa.
How to enable Apple CarPlay in a Nissan Versa
After purchasing a NissanConnect subscription, you’ll be able to enable Apple CarPlay into your Versa S. Or, if you purchased a Versa SV or SR, it comes pre-installed. Here are the steps to enable Apple CarPlay:
With a charging cord, connect your iPhone to the Versa’s USB port.
A display will appear on your smartphone asking if you want to connect to Apple CarPlay—touch yes.
From the Versa’s touchscreen, touch the Carplay icon, or tap the Info button, followed by the Apps button, and then touch Apple CarPlay.
