The Buick Lucerne enjoyed a short life of just one generation, six model years, and five trims. Each features the same bolt pattern of 5x4.5.
Let’s face it—if we’re making a list of the most-loved Buicks
, the Lucerne probably won’t be on it. It’s a sleek-looking, quasi-luxury sedan, but sloppy handling and subpar build quality left it at the bottom of most critics’ rankings. Fortunately, there’s a lot you can do to spruce up an old Lucerne. If you’re looking for cheap and easy car mods
, you might consider a car wrap or a throttle adjustment. But if you have a touch more to spend, you might spring for a new set of wheels and rims. If you choose the latter, you’re going to need to know a few things about your vehicle’s wheels. Lucky for you, we’ve got everything you need in this handy guide to the Buick Lucerne bolt pattern.

The Buick Lucerne was only around for six model years, and each of those model years was a part of the same generation. That’s why it should come as no surprise that every Buick Lucerne, regardless of model year and trim, features the same 5x4.5 bolt (aka lug) pattern.
What, exactly, is a lug pattern, you ask? Simple—it’s a numeric phrase that car manufacturers and mechanics use to describe the number of bolts that hold on your car’s wheels and the diameter of the circle those bolts form. It’s expressed as:
# of bolts x diameter of the circle they form
For your Lucerne, the number of bolts is five and the diameter of the circle is 4.5 inches. So, the bolt pattern is 5x4.5. When speaking, you can say, “5 on 4.5.”
While this is a great place to start, you’re still going to need a few more specs if you want to swap out your wheels. Don’t worry, we’ve gathered everything you need here!
Factory wheel size: 17- or 18-inch

How to measure your Buick Lucerne’s bolt pattern
If you want to know how to measure your Lucerne’s bolt pattern yourself, or you have another vehicle you’d like to find the measurements for, don’t worry—it’s easy. Grab yourself a measuring tape or a ruler, and let’s get started.
First, pick any bolt on any wheel. Since the Lucerne has an odd number of lugs, to find your pattern, you’ll simply measure from the outside edge of one bolt to the center of one of the bolts across from it. On a Lucerne, you should get a measurement of 4.5 inches. That combined with the five lugs on the wheel gives you a bolt pattern of 5x4.5.
To find the bolt pattern on a wheel with an even number of lugs, count the lugs to arrive at the first number. Then, just measure from the center of any one bolt to the center of the bolt directly across from it to get the diameter of the circle. Put them together to form the bolt pattern!
