How to turn on Apple CarPlay in your Toyota 4Runner

Now that you know that this feature is available to you, you’re probably itching to get started. Fortunately, setup is pretty easy! You’ll just need to follow these steps to enable CarPlay for your vehicle:

Make sure Siri is enabled on your Apple iPhone.

Physically connect your iPhone to your 4Runner via a USB port and a lightning charging cord.

On your car’s display screen, select Menu > General > Apple CarPlay.

Wait for your phone to connect to your vehicle. Once it does, you should see a pop-up for Apple CarPlay with three options: Always Enable, Enable Once, or Do Not Enable. (NOTE: If you select Do Not Enable, your phone will not connect to Apple Car Play! If you plan to use this device in your car regularly, I highly recommend selecting Always Enable to make future connections seamless.)

Once you’ve made your selection, wait for four to six seconds until your phone and your vehicle connect.

After your wait period is over, you’ll be able to use CarPlay in your vehicle as much as you’d like! Pull up directions on your car’s display, control your music without touching your phone, and enjoy the other benefits that come with this feature.
