It’s important to note here that the 2018 Kia Soul doesn’t directly monitor the condition of your oil with any more detail than most other cars do—the engine’s computer keeps a watchful eye on oil temperature and oil pressure, but it doesn’t specifically tell you when an oil change is needed, beyond tracking the oil change interval in general.
Setting and resetting the service reminder is relatively simple. You’ll use the buttons located on the right side of your steering wheel—the “PAGE” and “DOWN” buttons, specifically—to navigate the car’s information screens. Here’s how to do it:
- Turn the car’s battery on, but don’t start the engine. In a car with a key ignition, turn it until the car lights up but don’t go far enough to start the engine. If you have a push button start, keep your foot off the brake and press the start button twice.
- Press the PAGE button. Did this bring up a screen that says “Service Required”? Perfect! If it didn’t, just keep pressing PAGE until you’re on a screen that says “User Settings”, then use the DOWN button to find the “Service Interval” page.
- If you’re looking at the “Service Required” page, hold the DOWN button until it resets the service interval
- If you’re on the “Service Interval” page, scroll down to “Reset” and select that
- Once you’ve completed the reset, turn off the ignition. When you restart the car, you should be all set!
How often does a 2018 Kia Soul need an oil change?
