The oil light on the Ford Escape alerts you when you need to change your oil. However, it doesn’t turn off by itself even after you take care of the job. You’ll have to do a manual reset to turn the light off. Luckily, it only takes a few seconds!
Read on as we walk through the step-by-step process of resetting the 2016 Ford Escape’s oil light.

How to reset the engine oil maintenance light on a 2016 Ford Escape

After you’ve successfully changed your oil, breathe a sigh of relief because the hard part is done! But wait, why is your oil light still on?
No worries! All you have to do is reset the 2016 Ford Escape’s oil light. Here’s how to do it:
  1. Close all the doors and insert the key into the ignition. Leave it in the OFF position.
  2. Press and hold down both the gas and brake pedals for 3 seconds. This will turn your vehicle on without starting the engine.
  3. Take a look at your dashboard screen which should read “_Service: Oil reset in prog.” Keep your feet pressed on the pedals. The oil reset will take 20 seconds.
  4. Once the screen says “_Service: Oil reset complete”, release the pedals and remove the key.
And that’s it! The next time you need an oil change, your oil light will illuminate and you can follow the reset instructions after you’ve serviced your oil.

How often does a 2016 Ford Escape need an oil change?

The 2016 Ford Escape will need an oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles using synthetic motor oil. To keep your car running smoothly, the Ford-approved
Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil
is the best oil to use.
There’s no need to call your mechanic to do an oil change either. Just follow the instructions in the
official Ford owner’s manual
and you’re set! All that’s left to do is to stay on top of your
car maintenance schedule
and be aware of any changes to your
Ford’s
functioning.
If you do need an extra hand, it’s time to head to the mechanic. Whether you need to
reset your indicator lights
or you’ve got an oil fluid leak, it’s best to leave it to a professional.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
