Why your 2010 Acura TSX needs a radio code

Let’s start with one of the biggest questions—why does your Acura have a radio code? Here’s a quick history.
In the 90s, stereo systems were the most frequently stolen car component! That’s when manufacturers started adding radio codes to the sound systems. So, if the battery dies or is disconnected, the radio will only work if you can enter the correct code.
However, the number of radio thefts per year have fallen by over 50 percent. This is mainly because technology has advanced and stereo systems now have a low resale value. But your 2010 Acura TSX is still equipped with this added level of security. So it’s important to know where to find this magic number in case you ever find yourself locked out of your sound system.

How to find your 2010 Acura TSX radio code

Fortunately, finding your 2010 Acura TSX radio code is easy if you know where to look.
Start by looking inside your glove compartment for the “Anti-Theft Radio Code” decal sticker. The sticker should have two sets of numbers. The first set should be five digits long—this is your radio code. The second set of numbers is the radio serial number. Remember: no matter where you find it, the radio code is always five digits long!
If there’s no radio code decal in the glove compartment, look on the underside of the engine compartment fuse box cover, the driver’s door jamb, or the trunk jamb
Last but not least, look for the Anti-Theft Radio ID card in your owner’s manual for the radio code. Still no luck? A final spot to check is your Acura maintenance journal.

How to look up a 2010 Acura TSX radio code

Don’t stress if you can’t find the radio code anywhere! Fortunately, Acura built in some alternatives to recover your vehicle’s code. Start by finding your Acura’s
Acura vehicle identification number (VIN)
and radio serial number
The VIN is a 17-digit code that is unique to your vehicle. You can find the VIN in your vehicle registration documents, on your car insurance card, the driver’s door jamb or dashboard, or your Acura Financial Services statement.
Find the serial number on the Anti-Theft Identification Card in your owner’s manual. If you don’t have the owner’s manual handy, you can find the serial number on the radio display by following these steps:
  • Turn the ignition ON
  • Turn the radio ON—the display should read CODE. If this message doesn’t appear, pull the backup fuse for 1 minute. Then, start again from the beginning
  • Turn the radio device OFF
  • Press and hold the 1 and 6 radio preset buttons and turn the radio device ON
  • Then, you should see a “U” followed by four numbers—these are the first four digits of the serial number
  • The second screen should display an “L” followed by the last four digits of the serial number
  • The serial number is the eight-digit code containing the first four numbers plus the last four numbers—disregard the “U” and the “L”
Once you have the serial number and the VIN, you can visit
https://radio-navicode.acura.com/
and enter your serial number and VIN to retrieve your radio code.
Or, call (800) 382-2238 to reach Acura Customer Service—their helpline is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Time. When you call, be prepared to provide the serial number and VIN to the customer service representative. They will then provide you with a new Acura radio code.
